Well it's complete! The 48 hour film project wrapped up last night and the film was turned in just three minutes before the deadline (7:27 pm).

This is how our weekend broke down:

Friday evening after getting off of work we headed to the Embassy Suites which doubled as our 'war room.' Everyone threw some concepts around and than left it into the hands of the screen writer which took us well into the morning.

Saturday morning the call time was at 8:30 AM at the 'Carling' building downtown. The Carling has some interesting history behind it, built in 1926 as the Roosevelt hotel, caught fire and left abandoned for years -- recently renovated to become apartments. That place is rich in history. I suggest googling it, you may learn something.

After our shoot was complete at the Carling, we went to lunch, then off to our next location. We shot in the Riverside area of Jacksonville which is a quaint side of town, historic and artsy. We had to wind up cutting one of the scenes out of our movie so afternoon production went by quicker than I imagined it would and it was good with 99 degree weather. We finally wrapped up at 5:00 pm and went on break. The actors were amazing and were flawless and a big thanks to them.

The next part is where the chaos began. Post production. Since you only have 48 to complete everything, our time was dwindling down big time. I spent a good six hours in the editing suite trying to piece together the movie only to realize we were show a minute and seventeen seconds. Not a problem, we went around and shot some B roll of Jacksonville, the streets of Riverside and woods.

I am in the process of putting up some out takes of our movie.

Will I do the film festival next year? Hell Yes!

Ready, Set, GO

Tonight at 7 pm I will be embarking on something that is a first for me: The 48 Hour Film Project. In a nut shell the 48 HFP (for short) is when you have 48 hours to pick a genre and basically assemble a 4-7 minute movie from start to finish (script, set, actors, production and editing).

The only real experience I have in making movies is the movies that we make here in the studios with Matt and Craiger so this will be an interesting concept for me. Luckily for us, Moonpie and Matt have spent time on sets over in LA so we have that going for us. I am going into the project with a positive attitude and excited! So stay tuned for updates.

On another note, I changed my diet drastically yesterday. Instead of fast food, I am doing more sensible food. Eating less and more frequently. Pretty much everything I talked about yesterday. The run didn't happen yesterday because it was pouring down rain, I managed to get a little walk in though.

When I went to the store yesterday morning I was able to get plenty of breakfast food and high protein foods. I rarely ever eat breakfast so this will be a big change for me. Hopefully for the better.

Road Trip Boredom

It was almost six hours driving to Pensacola over the weekend and for some reason the drive home was the worst. Maybe its just your adrenaline that the ride to your destination always is faster, who knows. You can only listen to the radio and hear Lady Gaga and Train so many times so here are some other things you can do if your bored in a car and want to make time go faster:

Write letters
Read Book
Plan for an upcoming event
iPhone (many games to challenge your friends)

Okay, so many of those may not be the greatest things but they help me.

Counting Down the Hours

Here we are on another Friday afternoon and about to depart on another trip. This time destination Pensacola, Florida.

This is going to be a true learning experience for Matt and I. We keep seeing images on the networks about the disaster over there but tonight we are going to be able to experience it first hand. Not to sound like a Debbie downer but every time I see images of the animals covered in oil and suffocating it tears me up. I'm not going to throw stones at BP because I don't know the whole story but I am also not going to defend them either.

The only thing I am not looking forward to is the 5.5 hour drive over there but if we can bring awareness to the situation, its well worth it. I will be updating through out the weekend so you can see exactly what it's like at ground zero. Thanks to all the listeners of Cruise Radio, this weeks show will reach over 30,000 listeners online.

I will keep you posted when I get to ground zero....

Counting Down the Hours

The H20 Tour

So last night I landed in Indianapolis around 10 pm and by the time I deplaned, got my bags and caught up with Derrick it was about 10:40 or so. We went to a couple of bars down the street from his house and than called it an early night because of the big day.

The H20 tour is in Indy today and it has quite a few country artists on the bill. Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, Justin Moore, Josh Thompson, Easton Corbin and Steel Magnolia were on the docket. It's neat to see Brad Paisley taking the up and comers on his tour and playing with them too. Brad is known to join his opening acts on stage and play a couple songs on the guitar just for fun.

This was my first time at an outdoor venue up here and it was pretty cool. We did a little tailgating before the concert. All the reviews I read online said that the venue was one road in, one road out and that traffic could be at a stand still for a couple hours during shows. After reading that this morning, we road out to the venue and scouted the area well (for back roads and are plan of attack). Ten minutes later we arrived at the venue and found out what we were going to do and it was pouring rain. Not cool. Fingers were crossed that the rain would stop by show time. Thank God it did.

Fast forward to that afternoon, we got to the venue. To my surprise the parking was free. We tailgated for a bit then went inside the area when the first act started play (4:45 PM). There was a side stage so not everyone played on the main stage. The main stage acts started playing at 7:30 PM and it included Justin Moore, Darius Rucker and Brad Paisley.
Since we got our tickets through the record label there was also a meet and greet to meet Justin Moore (sings "Small Town USA").

We randomly bumped into Josh Thompson (sings "Beer on the Table") when we were heading to one on the bars on the side of the stage.

Darius Rucker was great. He did a lot of his cover songs from Hootie and the Blowfish and all his newer stuff as well. He played for about 45 minutes. It's funny cause of all the main stream artists in the 90's, Darius was the last person I would have ever expected to cross over to country.

Brad Paisley really brought it too. The effects Brad had on his backdrop and on the stage were amazing. He played for a good hour and a half. I have a little video off Brad playing his guitar in the crowd but Derrick was holding the camera upside down so I have to figure out how to make the video "right side up" with the editing program (my phone died).

If you get a chance to catch the Brad Paisley H20 Tour this year I would definitely catch it. It's worth every penny and being an outdoor event makes it even ten times better. Indoor concerts always seem so restricting.

Run, Pack and Laugh

Doesn't it always make you feel better when you go for a nice run or a good work out? Sometimes it can really clear your mind and give you a good sweat. After my run yesterday I was drenched with sweat but totally worth it. The good news is when you eat just after you run your adrenaline is still pumping and it helps break down the fatty acids, more so than just eating without exercising.

I try to run three miles every other day, seems like here of lately its only been a couple days per week because my sleep schedule is so jacked up and sometimes I feel lethargic when I get off and just want to grab my blanket and sleep.

Off subject for a moment, I'm watching the news and they are showing birds on the Gulf coast covered with oil... so disturbing. It's a shame the rig blew up in mid April and there's still no stopping the leakage. Tragic.

In under 12 hours I fly to Indianapolis on AirTran and I still haven't packed. When I checked in yesterday I was the first person to check in for both my flights so I got the seats I wanted right off the bat. Advice: Always check into your flight soon as your allowed. The middle seat sucks and that's one place you don't want to be stuck for a few hours. Even though I cant wait to head up to Indy, it's hard to get motivated to pack up. Don't believe me? Check out all the clothes on my bed. Kind of embarrassing! Packing is the only part of a trip that I don't look forward too... or the laundry when I return!

Joan Rivers at Florida Theatre

So I totally forgot yesterday that Joan Rivers was performing at the Florida Theatre. When I got off work yesterday morning I sent Matt a text to ask him if we could get tickets to the show and we did. She was ripping on Jacksonville and how ugly the buildings are, Tom Cruise, all the way to Gary Coleman. I know its a comedy act but some of the material may have been a little bit in bad taste or too soon.

Joan holds nothing back on her stand up routine and I havent laughed that much in months, it was great therapy. She performed for almost two hours. We tried to get in her meet and greet line to meet her after the show but security were being real sticklers about it. So after the show, we waited out by the limo. We were going to see Joan Rivers dammit! People couldnt believe I was going to see Joan Rivers perform but she IS a legend. Shes like 77 -- she wont be around much longer!

36 Hours To Go

Last night it started pouring down rain about 11 pm. I still use my alarm clock to wake up as well as my cell phone so every time it rains, naturally I get scared that I am going to sleep in.... Regardless, already Thursday morning! Awesome. Love me some four day work weeks, actually three and a half day work weeks for me because tomorrow afternoon I fly out to Indianapolis.

Why am I going to Indianapolis?

My friends Derrick moved up there last year so I am going to hang for a couple of days. This will be my second time going there. Looking forward to it because I love to travel.

The second reason, the H20 tour will be going through there on Saturday: Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker (from Hootie and the Blow Fish, Justin Moore, Josh Thompson and Steel Magnolia will be performing. A special thank you to my co-worker Michele for lining the tickets up. That saved me a good hundred bucks.

So I will be the first to tell you when it comes to packing I am super last minute. It's almost like there is no thought or planning process when it comes to me going on a trip. Here once again, I'm on the brink of another trip and I haven't even started packing or even thinking what I am going to put in my duffel bag. I will probably just wing it. It's not like I am going for a week or anything though.

How are you when it comes to packing? Do you wait til last minute and just throw stuff together or do you plan an outfit for everyday?

36 Hours To Go

A New Breakfast Joint

Everyone always says breakfast is the most important part of the day so lately I have been trying to eat more breakfast. My friend Pie called me yesterday to go to breakfast when I got off the air, so I of course I did... I wouldn't miss out on a meal! I always enjoy going out to breakfast with Pie, he knows where all the little restaurants are off the beaten path. This time we hit up Gina's, in the Riverside area of Jacksonville.

Walking into Gina's there isn't much there, a big menu lines the building and a walk up counter. My first impression was like a little sidewalk cafe or diner. On the outside window they had a morning special in big letters. Eggs, Bacon, Grits and Toast for 3.99. Hell of a deal! So that's what I went with.

With a drink and meal it was like six bucks total and worth it. There isn't any table service at Gina's, when your order is up they will call out the food and you pick it up. They also use all plastic ware for the plates and utensils which I would do if I owned a place. It wasn't over the top excellent but I had no complaints.

Gina's is only open til 4 pm so they much do decent volume so they don't have to stay open for dinner.

After breakfast (10 AM), I went home and couldn't sleep to save my life (story of my life) so I started watch TV shows that I couldn't believe I found myself laying there watching... Keeping up with the Kardashian's, Girls Next Door and Martha Stewart. Oh and the reason I couldn't sleep, I had 5 glasses of sweet tea for breakfast. Smart one, Doug!

eBay…… hmmm

It's been a few years since I have been on eBay mostly because the times I have spent on there and sold items, it was very time consuming. Now a days if I have something to sell on eBay I will give it to a co-worker and give him a percentage of the sale, it's just easier.

Well today I think I maybe getting back into the eBay game. Recently, I came across some great deals at some local stores that I could easily put on eBay and make a couple dollars off of. The stuff I found was all a buck but still, if I can sell it on eBay and make a few dollars.. why the hell not, right?

Today I found:

Some cruise line glasses

NASCAR collectors clock

Disney books still in package

Hardback Harry Potter book in mint condition

Now your probably wondering how in the hell I knew or know if these are going to sell on eBay. iPhone has an eBay app that I downloaded and can search things on the spot. It's so cool. It helps out a lot, there was a Sony Playstation today I came across for 10 bucks but you can buy them cheaper than that on eBay. The above items I listed I searched on eBay and they all went well above a dollar. I don't know any secrets to eBay so we will see if this is a fail or not..... Stay Tuned.
