I think if you consider everything that is included in a cruise holiday they certainly offer better value for money compared to your normal Fly Holidays. I guess people who are new to cruising think everything is included, which it is if you are willing to pay the money.

AMEN brother! Say it again. On a per day/item by item comparison you can't beat a cruise for value, variety of experiences, safety, and convenience

Doug....GREAT post. Back in the 80's a friend of mine basically pioneered the idea of having "Seminars at Sea".

Today, Doctors, Lawyers, Real Estate and Insurance agents go on Cruises to earn "CEU's" to retain their licenses. They have realized that Cruises are MUCH MORE AFFORDABLE and fun than staying at an Orlando resort!

Doug..you are right on the money on the cost savings of a cruise vacation...JUST AS LONG as the cruise lines keep their prices low...

Value is always in the eye of the beholder. I am always amazed what people will buy despite what they claim. Cruises just seem like they cost more becusae the pricing is all inclusive, there are more restrictions and the cancel policy is strict. Like you point out though, at the end of the day, cruising can be a great value proposition.

i think hotels near popular ports are really catching up with this idea of Park & cruise. Here in the UK at Southampton Port hotels like Hilton and De Vere offer great offers for cruise passengers, where you can book pre/post cruise hotel stays and car parking for the durations of your cruise cheaply plus they offer free shuttle service from the hotel to port.
