Wash Your Hands

Celebrity Mercury

Celebrity Mercury, currently home ported in Charleston, SC.

If you follow the national news you know that a cruise line has recently been under fire for having three cruises with an outbreak of the norovirus.
The norovirus symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and some stomach cramping. Sometimes people also have a low-grade fever too, so it's nothing to play around with.  It's spread from person to person.

I am talking about the Celebrity cruise ship Mercury that's home ported in Charleston, SC.  Almost 1,000 people fell ill between the three sailings and the ship recently was put under a NO SAIL (docked for 72 hours) by the Center of Disease control for through sanitizing and cleaning.

What the media failed to report is the fact that in history, there is not one documented case where a cruise ship caused the norovirus, it's spread by humans. Basically people getting on the ship that shouldn't have been because they were sick.

A cruise ship is required by the CDC to report a virus outbreak if more than 3% of the passengers fall ill.

As of this morning (Thursday), all is well on board.

Keep our fingers crossed that this virus is gone and people are smart about sanitizing their hands.

*makes mental note to stay away from cruise ships*

I guess the scary thing is that when so many humans are packed into a floating container and some of them, or one of them, are sick, it is simply the wrong place to be.

Maybe if I go on a cruise ship someday I’ll wear a space suit!
